Tips for Reskinning

Designing a game has taught me many things and one of those is that how you package an ability makes a world of difference. In RPGs when you change the package of the ability, but keep the details the same, it is known as reskinning. You can reskin abilities, talents, techniques, villains, and many more things. Ala Carte Build vs Classes

When I started creating Unchained Heroes it was designed with the idea of Ala Carte character building rather than Classes. Diversity in regards to gender, sex, skin color, culture, and religion had very little hand in creating Unchained Heroes. Now, after reflection on this topic, I am wondering if it should have had more importance. Besides wanting to have more women in my artwork and as main characters, I didn’t really think about any of the other measures of diversity in a game. Is this a good thing? My knee jerk reaction would be yes; I despise discrimination of people based on their...
